EFCC Nabs 30 Cybercrime Suspects in Ilorin

30 suspects have been apprehended on Sunday in connection with internet fraud in Ilorin, Kwara state.

The suspects were arrested in the innards of Malete campus, Kwara State University, Ilorin on the 19th of Sep, 2021.

The arrest followed the sting operation by operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Command of the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission).

Items recovered from the suspects include 6 exotic cars, a number of laptops and mobile phones and some criminative documents.

The suspects’ s arrest was said to be the outcome of actionable intelligence and weeks of surveillance.

On this day, several arrests were made as the EFCC carried out search with warrant inside the campus.

Amidst questioning, some were found not censurable while others were culpable.

Those in the fisrt category were handed out to the SUG (Students Union Government) of the institution while those in the second category (their targets) were moved to the Ilorin Zonal Command office for more enquiries.

According to Daily Post, their arrest was subsequent to actionable Intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet related activities.

Part of the intelligence gathered shows that the suspects manoeuvred on campuses around Ilorin with the motive to defrauding unsuspicious victims of their hard earned income.

According to Wilson Uwujaren the Head, Media and Publicity, of the agency, the suspects would be charged to court at the completion of the probe.
