The Managing Director/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku has hailed traditional rulers as the authentic champions of development in the Niger Delta region.
Speaking at the 13th Assembly of the South-South Traditional Rulers Forum held at Government House Asaba, Delta State on Tuesday, May 20, 2024, Ogbuku stressed the importance of collaboration between the NDDC and traditional rulers to drive sustainable development to the grassroots.
According to him, he was honoured to address the gathering of revered traditional rulers, acknowledging the importance of the traditional institution as the original foundation of governance.

The NDDC Boss added that traditional rulers, by their hereditary or birthright ascension to the throne, were not politicized and genuinely carried the interests of their people at heart.

He commended the monarchs for initiating the collaboration, stating that it was the right approach to development.
Furthermore, he assured the traditional rulers that the Commission is committed to working with them to implement structures for sustainable development, ensuring that the benefits of development reach the grassroots.
The 13th Assembly of the South-South Traditional Rulers Forum provided a platform for the NDDC and traditional rulers to engage in fruitful discussions, charting a course for meaningful collaboration and development in the Niger Delta region.
