EPL: Watford Sack Coach Barely a Week After Everton Axed Benitez | Daily Report Nigeria

Watford have given their head coach, Claudio Ranieri a sack which was announced on Monday, 24th.

The dismissal was announced almost a week after Rafa Benitez was also released by Everton.

The former Chelsea boss was axed following Watford’s 3-0 loss to relegation rivals, Norwich City on Friday, 21st.

That said, the Golden Boys on Tuesday annouced the appointment of the former Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson as a replacement of the sacked Italian coach.

The 70-year-old coach parted ways the club having led them to 19th position with just two points above Burnley sitting in the last spot of the Premier League table.

Meanwhile, Yellow Army had dismissed Xisco Munoz in October, 2021, less than 11 months after he took charge.

He was made to part ways with the club having driven them to the 14th spot on the table.

The club’s statement partly reads: “…The board feels that, with nearly half of the Premier League campaign remaining, a change in the Head Coach position now will give a new appointment sufficient time to work with a talented squad to achieve the immediate goal of retaining Premier League status.”

Watford will therefore, be travelling to Turf Moor for the next League clash with the last-placed Burnley on the 5th of February after the mid-season winter break.
