According to the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency (NPHCDA), an outbreak of diphtheria infection has killed the lives of 20 children in Kaduna State, Nigeria.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that NPHCDA also confirmed 156 cases of the disease in the state.
The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of NPHCDA, Dr Faisal Shuaib confirmed the development told newsmen on Wednesday.
Shuaib visited the Kaduna Diphtheria Treatment Centre to assess the situation of the outbreak that affected parts of Kaduna state.

Shuaib urged the public to present themselves for vaccination as diphtheria is a preventable disease.
Diphtheria is a highly contagious bacterial infection that affects the nose and throat.
Diphtheria can lead to severe breathing difficulties, heart failure, paralysis, and even death.
