Gov AbdulRazaq to Embark on FG Roadworks in Kwara North Prior to next rainy season -Rotimi

Kwara State Government has assertained the fixing of government roads by the Federal Government in advance of next rainy season.

The collapsed Kosubosu-Gwasorro and Kishi-Kaiama roads linking Baruten to Kaiama Local Governments were included among the FG roads to repair.

Rotimi Iliyasu, Commissioner for Works Engineer disclosed this via an interview with Vanguard in Ilorin.

He said that the affected roads already included in 2022 budget of the federal government was the efforts of a number of interventions of the Kwara Governor.

The constant torrential pouring rain has crumbled these abandoned major linkage roads, thereby ensuring slump and privation for the residents of the two local governments.

Gathered was that the collapse has laid off business activities in the two local governments, thus engendering economic hardship on residents.

The governor has begun to exert efforts to see that the road is passable pending full construction by the federal government as revealed by Rotimi.

He said:“The road has been captured under presidential order 7 just like that of Oshodi Apapa Road among others.”

“I was in the company of the governor when he visited Honourable Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola in Abuja recently on the need to fix the federal government roads in Kwara. These roads you are talking about is one of them. ”

“We are optimistic that before next year rainy season starts, this road would have been rehabilitated. ”

Rotimi added:“We are looking at what to do in the interim to bring life back to the affected communities. But by the grace of God before rainy season next year, the roads would have been fixed because we are ready to start work immediately the rainy season ends.”
