How N100m Ransom Paid For My Release Was Raised – Methodist Prelate, Samuel Kanu-Uche

The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Samuel Kanu-Uche, has revealed how a N100 million ransom was paid to secure his release from his abductors.

Kanu-Uche was abducted by assailants along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, in the Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.

The Methodist Prelate was kidnapped alongside two others by hoodlums, who demanded a N100 million as ransom.

However, in an interview with Punch on Tuesday in Lagos, the cleric said he was beaten up by his abductors, who threatened to kill him if their demand was not met.

He revealed that the huge sum was raised by the church in order to secure his release.

Samuel Kanu-Uche was kidnapped with and in the company of his chaplain, Very Rev. Abidemi Shittu, and the Bishop of Owerri, Rt. Rev. Dennis Mark.

The clergymen were, however, released on Monday, after the sum was paid.
