INC Mourns as PANDEF Treasurer, Alatubo Charles Harry Dies

The National Treasurer of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Alabotu Charles Harry, is dead.

The revered Niger Delta activist died on Tuesday January 3, 2023 aged 62.

The demise of the writer, politician and environmental activist has since attracted condolences from various socio-cultural groups, including the Ijaw National Congress, INC.

In a statement on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Engr. Ezonebi Oyakemeagbegha, the INC described Alabotu’s death as an “irreplaceable loss.”

The statement reads;

With heavy heart, the President of the Ijaw National Congress, INC, Prof. Benjamin Okaba, on behalf of the Ijaw nation and National Executive Council (NEC) of the foremost Ijaw sociocultural organisation wishes to express condolences to the Harry family, the people of Kalabari and the Ijaw people as a whole, on the death of their son Alatubo Charles Harry.

“Until his death he was the National Treasurer of Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the founding Chairman of the Ijaw Republican Assembly (IRA) and the Chairman of Rivers Democratic Movement.

“Alatubo Charles was also the key driver behind the regular “Scion to Icons” Heroes of Ijawnation Merit Awards, a political and environmental activist.

“He led a good life and made enormous contributions to the development of ijaw nation using various platforms and was a believer of the Ijaw cause.

“The Ijaw nation will sorely miss him. We pray to God to give the immediate family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”

“He late Alatubo Charles is survived by his wife and children. May his soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.”
