IYC Launches Region Security Network For Niger Delta

IYC Launches Region Security Network For Niger Delta | Daily Report Nigeria

The Ijaw Youth Council has launched a regional security outfits to tackle insecurity in the Nigeria Delta region.

The outfit known as the Niger Delta Region Special Defence, was unveiled on Tuesday by the IYC National President, Timothy Igbifa.

Igbifa in his charge to the outfit, tasked commanding officers to ensure protection of facilities and people across the region.

“We surely have come late which means that we have to redouble all our efforts towards ensuring that we are comittee to all that it takes to keeping the region safe from Intruders,” he said.

He said the NDRSD will collaborate with other security agencies to ensure safety in waterways, land and air in the Niger Delta.

Igbifa stressed that everything needed to keep the secure the region will be provided for the outfit.

“Everything needed to keep this region safe, shall be provided. The Niger Delta Regional Special Defense shall gather another milestone in curbing the issues of insecurity in this region,” he added.

The IYC President further called on Houses of Assemblies in Niger Delta states, to enact a law that will back up the regional security outfits.

“Let’s take our people back to the time when they leave their houses early in the morning without being hurt. Time when our lands and seas where safe.

“We use this medium to call on the Assemblies in this region to wake up swiftly as they begin to provide laws that will back up this regional security outfit,” he pleaded.

Members of the outfit exercised their commitment to ensuring the security of lives and properties in the region.
