Some leaders and stakeholders of the Ijaw Youth Council in Olodiama Clan, Western Zone, have raised an alarm over an alleged faulty process in the election of executives for the clans.
In a press statement signed by Andrew Igire and Chief Donben Donyegha on Thursday, the stakeholders described the election conducted by Clan Electoral Committee (CLECO) as that of a certain political party.
According to them, one “Emomotimi Egbor led the CLECO with some other persons to conduct political party election at Inikorogha community,” adding that “IYC Olodiama Clan Election did not hold today.
“Any election that Emomotimi Egbor championed at Inikorogha community is a political election, because the community was among the three other communities that the CLECO chairman and his team refused to hold the election.

Election conducted in Olodiama – CLECO
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Clan Electoral Committee, Bob Joe Egbor has explained that the body conducted election at Olodiama Clan.
In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, Bob described the allegation as “ridiculous and the handiwork of mischief makers who are out to sabotage the painstaking efforts of CLECO towards ensuring a smooth transmission process for Clan structures of Council in the zone.”
He further noted that because the body upholds transparency as a priority, “video evidence of how the election was conducted in Olodiama upon an agreement among leaders and stakeholders of the clan will be put forward by CLECO.”
“We challenge anybody to prove their allegations against CLECO,” Bob added.
