Journalists Tell FG To Shelve Idea of Fuel Subsidy Removal

The federal government has been advised to shelve the idea of fuel subsidy removal totally.

Muslim journalists on the platform of Muslim Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MMPN) gave the advice in reaction to the planned subsidy removal by the government.

They advised the government “to shelve the idea totally”.

MMPN Chairman in Oyo State, Alhaji Ridwan Fasasi, in a communiqué made available to newsmen at the end of the monthly meeting of the association held at the premises of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) in Ibadan, the group noted that this is in the interest of the poor Nigerians who are in the majority.

He urged the Federal Government to concentrate more on ensuring that all refineries are resuscitated.

According to him: “The association appreciated the federal government for suspending the planned removal of fuel subsidy following the public outcry.

“Burden of hike in fuel pump price at the last stage of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is tantamount to inflicting more hardship on the suffering masses.

“It urged the Federal Government to concentrate more on ensuring that all refineries are put to 100 percent utilization, which will permanently address the tales of fuel subsidy.”
