Argentine playmaker, Lionel Messi has become the most decorated footballer of all time.

The World Cup winner achieved the feat after guiding Inter Miami to the Leagues Cup trophy on Saturday night.

The trophy was the first for David Beckham’s Major League Soccer side, making it an historic feat for both the club and the player.

Messi won the 44th trophy of a blistering career that has seen him win every medal on and off the field if play.

Inter won the inaugural Leagues Cup after an 11-round penalty shootout following a 1-1 regulation draw against Nashville SC.

Next up for Messi and Co is a semifinal bout in the US Open Cup against FC Cincinnati on Wednesday.

The club also have an uphill to climb in their race to qualify for the Eastern Conference playoff spot.

The Herons currently sit 12 points adrift from the last play-off qualification spot.
