Paris Saint-Germain forward, Lionel Messi, is ready to leave the club at the end of the current season, according to ESPN’s Martin Alvaro.
According to Alvaro “Messi’s happiness has been with Barcelona and we could see the Argentine superstar make a return to the Spanish giant this summer.”
Messi, 35, has not been able to get a new contract with PSG as a return to Barcelona looks likelier these days.
His contract with the French Ligue 1 champions will expire at the end of the season.
Speaking on Messi’s situation at PSG, Alvaro told Sports Cenre ESPN, “Messi is going to leave Paris. They never understand that they had the best.
“Leo’s happiness is in FC Barcelona and even if he has to play for free, he will try to find it.”
Messi joined the French side in 2021 from Barcelona following financial issues the Catalan club had and they could not renew his contact due to La Liga regulations.
Barcelona board had since expressed their desire on bringing Messi back to the club he started his career once his PSG contract expires.
