John Mikel Obi, a former Super Eagles midfielder, has shed light on Victor Osimhen’s failed move to Chelsea this summer.

In a recent podcast, Mikel Obi revealed that the transfer was “very, very close” to being completed but fell through due to “slight issues” at the last moment.

He clarified that Osimhen was not being unreasonable with his demands, emphasizing that the striker only sought what he deserved.

Mikel Obi noted, “Victor is not greedy. He wasn’t asking for an extravagant amount. He just wants to get what he deserves. There’s nothing wrong with a player wanting fair compensation.”

Discussing the transfer’s near success, he said, “We were hours away from finalizing the deal. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough time to complete the medical, even if the deal had been agreed. I know exactly where we left off, and if we revisit this in January, we’ll know where to pick up.”
