Military Lays 22 Officers Killed In Niger to Rest

Remains of the 22 military personnel who recently died in combat and an air crash in Niger State have been laid to rest.

The burial ceremony took place at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday, August 25, 2023.

The ceremony was attended by the rank and file of the Nigerian Armed Forces, as well as the families of the deceased.

The Minister of Defence, Muhammed Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; Deputy Governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba; Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa; and other service chiefs were in attendance.

The mood at the cemetery was mournful with the revelation that some of the deceased officers had already been buried by their families.

Recall that about thirty-six officers were killed in battle, including an air mission, on August 14, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
