Mijinyawa stated that despite efforts by law enforcement agencies to prosecute individuals operating illegal outfits, some members of the public and key stakeholders have fallen victim to NATFORCE’s fraudulent activities.

He clarified that NATFORCE and NATCOM are not recognized as part of Nigeria’s security architecture and have no affiliation with any official security agency.

The statement added that the National Centre for the Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons (NCCSALW), established under the ECOWAS Convention Section 24, is the national focal point for small arms and light weapons control.

NCCSALW, currently coordinated by DIG Johnson Babatunde Kokumo (Rtd), works with stakeholders to implement UN and ECOWAS plans to control small arms and light weapons.

The ONSA advised state governments, international organizations, the private sector, and stakeholders to be vigilant about illegal security outfits and collaborate with the NCCSALW to address concerns around small arms proliferation.

Also, Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to continue arresting and prosecuting individuals and groups fraudulently presenting themselves as security forces.
