Nigeria vs Ghana: Major Boost for Super Eagles as FIFA Approves Ademola Lukman’s Switch

Fédération Internationale de Football Association, FIFA has confirmed Ademola Lukman’s switch from England to Nigeria.

The current Leicester City forward was debarred from representing Nigeria at the last Africa Cup of Nations lifted by Senegal as he was yet to get clearance from FIFA President, Gianni Infantino.

The 24-year-old has played for England U-19 in 2016, U-20 in 2016/2017 and U-21 from 2017-2019.

Lookman who began his senior club career in 2015 as a forward for Charlton Athletic has also played for Fulham before he joined RB Leipzig where he was loaned to Brendan Rodgers’ side.

In October of last year, the former Everton star applied to change his nationality allegiance to Nigeria where his parents hailed from in October, last year.

Meanwhile, the player who’s on loan from RB Leipzig has been included in Gernot Rohr’s provisional list for the AFCON before he was axed.

Lukman is therefore, eligible to play for the Super Eagles in the 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana in March.

Augustine Eguavoen’s men were sent packing out of the 2021 African Cup following a 1-0 defeat to Tunisia at the knockout stage.
