Five women have been elected into the Kwara State House of Assembly.

The women were elected during the last Saturday’s House of Assembly election in the state.

They would partake in the 10th legislative session of the Assembly which will be inaugurated in June this year.

The People Democratic Party has okayed Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State to run for a second term.

Diri passed the screening of the Party for the November 11, 2023 governorship election in the state.

The screening was conducted on Tuesday at the party’s headquarters in Abuja by the PDP Governorship Screening Committee for Bayelsa State.

The Peoples Democratic Party and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, have headed to the Presidential Election Tribunal to petition the results produced during the February 25 poll.

Their mission was to challenge the declaration of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the presidential election.

The filing which was confirmed on Tuesday evening is marked CA/PEPC/05/2023 and has Atiku Abubakar and the PDP as petitioners.

President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the Senate requesting the confirmation of new members of the board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation.

This development was contained in a letter dated March 15, 2023.

The letter was read at the start of the plenary on Tuesday by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election, has told the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) declare him winner of the election.

Obi also sought the court to cancel the election and conduct a fresh one in alternative.

The above formed part of the reliefs being sought in a petition Obi filed with his party at the court’s secretariat located at the Court of Appeal in Abuja.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has resumed the collation of Enugu and Abia states governorship election results.

Recall that INEC had suspended the collation process due to the attack on its office by thugs in Obingwa Local Government Area in Abia State on Sunday, March 19, 2023.

Some of its officials who were in charge of the collation of results from the Local Government Area were also held hostage during the invasion.

Labour Party candidate, Chief Alex Otti, has been declared the winner of the Abia State governorship election that held last Saturday.

Otti was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Wednesday, following the collation of results from Obingwa Local Government Area.

According to results from Obingwa, the Peoples Democratic Party scored 9,962 votes and while the Labour Party, 3,776 votes in the LGA.
