The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has reiterated his stance that Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court will not handle his case.
Kanu’s lead counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this in a statement, noting that the IPOB leader had instructed his lawyers to ensure that Justice Nyako stays off his case following her recusal.
According to Ejimakor, Kanu emphasized that having Justice Nyako handle the case again would mean disobeying her own order of recusal.
“Due to its constitutional implications, Onyendu instructed the legal team to take certain prompt steps to ensure that his case is not handled by the same Justice Binta Murtala-Nyako who had withdrawn from the case by virtue of the order of recusal entered on 24th September 2024,” Ejimakor stated.

Kanu suggested that his case be transferred to the Southeast if no judge in Abuja is willing to take it up.
Ejimakor quoted Kanu as saying, “If no other judge in Abuja is willing to handle the case, the Chief Judge is free to transfer the case to Umuahia, Awka, Enugu, Asaba, Port Harcourt or any other Federal High Court within the former Eastern Nigeria where the offenses were alleged to have happened or allegedly had impact.”
Release Kanu To End Southeast Insecurity –Ex-DSS Director Mike Ejiofor
A former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mike Ejiofor, has called on President Bola Tinubu to unconditionally release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Ejiofor made this plea during an interview on Arise TV’s Morning Show.
According to Ejiofor, releasing Kanu could help halt the killings by unknown gunmen in the region, who claim to be fighting for the IPOB leader.
