Okowa’s Termination of Ayakoromor Bridge Contract Another Looting Stunt – APC

The termination of the Ayakoromor Bridge contract by the Delta State Government has been described as an attempt to further loot the state’s treasury by the Ifeanyi Okowa-led administration.

Napoleon Kenerekedi, Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State, made the claim while reacting the repudiation of the bridge contract on Friday.

Governor Okowa had cited the slow pace of the contractor as cause of the move by the government to terminate the contract.

The Governor also expressed hope that the contract would be awarded to another contractor in the coming weeks after due processes have been followed.

However, Kenerekedi in a statement on Saturday, labeled the move as a smokescreen to milk the state’s treasury dry.

Citing other abandoned projects by the Okowa-led administration that are situated in Ijaw areas, Kenerekedi suggested that the people in coastal Delta are wiser ahead of the 2023 polls.

He said;

“The Delta State government in an attempt to finally milked the state’s treasury dry by terminating the Ayakoromo bridge project in other to re-award and review it to enable the state govt loot the state treasury more.”

“If I may ask, was it the contractor that was slow in the Burutu Marine School Permanent site?was it the contractor that was slow in the Ogulagha Odimodi road?

“Was it the contractor that was slow in the Torugbene -Ojobo road? Was it the contractor that was slow in kick-starting the Bomadi Polytechnic? Was it the contractor that was slow in the Abare road project in Patani LGA? Etc.

“It is said that ‘you can fool the people sometimes but you cannot fool them all the times.’ The Ijaw people in Delta State cannot be fooled by this PDP government any longer. They’re wiser now.”
