PDP Gave Approval to Accept Tinubu’s Appointment As Minister – Wike

Nyesom Wike, former Governor of Rivers State, announced that he won the approval of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to take on the role of minister in the government led by Bola Tinubu.

Wike, calling PDP leaders “reggae dancers” for their threat of sanctions, said the party had been fully informed of his acceptance of the cabinet position.

During his inaugural press conference as Minister of the Federal Republic in Abuja on Monday, Wike also mentioned that Tinubu has been in contact with all 36 state governors, including those with connections to the PDP.

He announced that these governors, including members of the PDP, had submitted a list of ten names each for consideration for ministerial appointments.

He said:

Can you even identify who I consider an enemy? Can you name a single person I hold enmity towards? People often spread propaganda. Let me take this moment to emphasize that I am not a fan of those who do not convey the truth.”

Discussing the threat of sanctions, the former Rivers State Governor said:

“They mentioned that they would impose sanctions on me for accepting this position. There are no stipulations. The president wrote to all 36 state governors to propose names for ministerial appointments. Did PDP governors not suggest names?”

Wike pointed out that each PDP governor submitted a letter of recommendation of ten people for appointment by the current government.

He said:
Even before this appointment materialized, I corresponded with the national chairman of the party, as well as the minority leaders of both the House of Representatives and the Senate. I communicated with the zonal chairman of the party and my state chairman. Furthermore, I contacted my governor. All of them responded affirmatively and advised me to accept.

“I have documented evidence to back this up. Disregard these individuals who engage in theatrical displays. I refer to them as reggae dancers because their missed opportunity is a consequence of arrogance and disregard for established norms.”
