Phil Foden, a Manchester City player, has been named the Football Writers’ Association’s Footballer of the Year for the 2023/24 season. In the women’s category, Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw, also from Manchester City, took home the award.

Foden secured 42% of the votes from the association’s members, making him the third Manchester City player to win the men’s award in the past four years, following Ruben Dias in 2021 and Erling Haaland in 2023.

The midfielder edged out Arsenal’s Declan Rice, who finished second, and Manchester City teammate Rodri, who came in third. The top six also included Martin Odegaard, Ollie Watkins, and Cole Palmer.
