Training will cover entrepreneurship, digital literacy, vocational skills and wealth creation.
Officials confirm the programme is free and open to Nigerians nationwide.
The Presidency has opened registration for a nationwide financial literacy training programme designed to equip 10 million Nigerians with essential financial and digital skills, as part of efforts to boost economic participation and financial inclusion across the country.
The programme, described as a key part of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reform agenda, aims to empower Nigerians with knowledge and skills needed for wealth creation, entrepreneurship, and improved livelihoods.
Under the initiative, participants will receive free training in financial literacy, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and other practical competencies needed to thrive in today’s economy.
Registration for the programme is being coordinated by WAWUAfrica, with interested Nigerians expected to sign up through the organisation’s dedicated online portal.
The registration was officially flagged off by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a virtual meeting with members of the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion (PreCEFI), professional organisations, and international development partners.
Among the partners supporting the initiative are the World Bank, African Union (AU), ECOWAS, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Speaking during the event, Shettima described the programme as a transformative intervention that could position Nigeria as a global model for financial inclusion.
The Vice President was represented at the meeting by the Special Adviser to the President on Economic Affairs, Dr. Tope Fasua.
“This upskilling initiative will stand out as one of the defining programmes of this administration, with the potential to evolve into a global model from Nigeria,” Shettima said.
According to him, the training will cut across multiple sectors to ensure participants gain practical skills that can help them create sustainable income.
He explained that the programme will cover areas such as digital and IT literacy, financial and economic literacy, healthcare and wellness, creative industries, entrepreneurship, vocational trades, engineering, hospitality, and tourism.
Shettima also praised the collaboration between government agencies and international development partners, noting that strong partnerships will be key to the programme’s long-term success.
“We expect this initiative to continue scaling through stronger collaboration until it achieves maximum impact,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion in the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Nurudeen Zauro, stressed that the training programme is completely free.
He warned Nigerians to be cautious of individuals who might attempt to exploit prospective participants.
“This training is free of charge. No one should be asked to pay any fee. We are also ensuring that citizens are properly guided on how to register and participate successfully,” Zauro said.
Development partners and participating professional bodies also pledged their commitment to ensuring that the programme delivers practical, high-quality skills, while maintaining transparency, accountability, and credibility throughout the registration process.
