Rema Wins Best Afrobeats Song at MTV VMA 2023 | Daily Report Nigeria

Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has won the Best Afrobeats Song category at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA).

Rema’s winning song was the remix of ‘Calm Down’ which he sang with Selena Gomez.

The award ceremony was held in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America on Tuesday night.

Rema beats other Afrobeats superstars such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and others to clinch the award.

The nominees for the Best Afrobeats Song category were ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez, ‘It’s Plenty’ by Burna Boy, and ‘Unavailable’ by Davido.

Others included ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr, ‘People’ by Libianca, ‘2 Sugar’ by Wizkid and Ayrra Starr, and ‘Bandana’ by Fireboy DML.
