Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives, has publicly apologized after a video surfaced showing him assaulting a Bolt driver.

The incident occurred at his residence in Abuja when the driver delivered a package. Ikwechegh admitted that his actions were unacceptable for a public official, expressing regret for the harm caused to the driver and the embarrassment to his constituents.

 

In his apology, he stated, “My behaviour fell short of the standards expected of me,” and pledged full cooperation with the ongoing police investigation. He also announced plans to seek professional counseling and engage in community service initiatives aimed at promoting respect and understanding.

The video, which went viral, depicted Ikwechegh slapping the driver and threatening him.
