Super Eagles Face Concerns Over Defenders’ Availability Ahead of Ghana Friendly

Super Eagles

Defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Calvin Bassey were absent from Wednesday’s training session, raising concerns about their availability for the upcoming friendly against the Black Stars of Ghana.

The Super Eagles held their second training session in Marrakech on Wednesday evening, with Omeruo and Bassey notably missing. They have one more training session to prove their fitness before the game.

Omeruo and Bassey played vital roles in Nigeria’s impressive campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where the team finished as runners-up.

In the absence of Omeruo and Bassey, caretaker head coach Finidi George may turn to Semi Ajayi and Chidozie Awaziem as capable replacements.

The Super Eagles are already dealing with several key absences due to injuries, with players like Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Tyrone Ebuehi, and Gabriel Osho forced to withdraw from the squad.

Despite the challenges, the Super Eagles are gearing up to face Ghana at the Grande Stade de Marrakech on Friday, followed by a clash against Mali at the same venue next week Tuesday.
