President Bola Tinubu has announced key leadership changes in Nigeria’s health and social welfare sector.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced the appointments in a statement on Thursday titled “President Tinubu approves leadership changes in health and social welfare sector.”
He named Dr Mansur Kabir has been named the new Chairman of the board of the National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
The Pres reappointed Prof Moji Adeyeye as the Chief Executive Officer of NAFDAC.

Dr Olajide Idris was appointed as the new Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), replacing Prof Ifedayo Adetifa.
He also approved the appointment and reappointment of board chairpersons and Chief Executive Officers for several other agencies under the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare
They are,
National Blood Service Commission: Prof Abba Zubairu (Chairperson) and Dr Saleh Yuguda (CEO).
Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria: Prof Afolabi Lesi (Chairperson) and Dr Fatima Kyari (CEO).
Pharmacy Council of Nigeria: Wasilat Giwa (Chairperson) and Ibrahim Ahmed (CEO).
Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria: Dr Babajide Salako (Chairperson) and Dr Tosan Erhabor (CEO).
Furthermore, two medical institutions have new leadership:
They are, Moddibo Adama University Teaching Hospital, Yola, Adamawa State: Prof Adamu Bakari is the Chief Medical Director.
Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Irrua, Edo State: Prof Reuben Eifediyi serves as the CMD.
Ngelale said the appointments were “in furtherance of his determination to bring world-class standards to Nigerian public health administration and to manifest his commitment to deliver affordable and quality care to all Nigerians under governance and regulatory frameworks commensurate with international best practice.“
