The incident occurred around 11:22 AM on Thursday, as the helicopter was en route from Port Harcourt Military Base to the NUIMANTAN oil rig.

The aircraft had eight people on board when it ditched into the Atlantic Ocean near Bonny Finima. Keyamo expressed his deep concern over the accident, stating, “The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has been notified, and emergency response teams were immediately activated. Search and rescue operations are ongoing with support from relevant agencies.”

Keyamo reported that, despite the absence of an Emergency Locator Transmitter signal, efforts are being made to locate the crash site manually.

He emphasized that all available resources, including military assistance and low-flying aircraft, have been deployed for rescue operations.

As of now, three bodies have been recovered, and the search for any additional survivors is ongoing.

Keyamo extended his condolences to the families of those on board, affirming, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families, and we are committed to providing the necessary support during this difficult time.”
