Willie Obiano, who will leave office as governor of Anambra State on March 17, 2022, has been celebrating his accomplishments since taking office in 2014, saying he will leave with his head held high.

Addressing journalists at his Aguleri county home in Anambra East local government area, Obiano ruled out immediate political participation after his tenure, but revealed that his wife, Chief Ebelechukwu Obiano, would run for the Senate of Anambra North senatorial zone next year.

The governor, who took journalists on a tour of some of his legacy projects, including the Anambra International Cargo and Passenger Airport, Umueri, and the International Conference and Convention Center, Awka, said the first international flight will touch down Anambra State in the next two weeks, and the conference center will open on March 9, 2022.

“I have done well,” he said, “but I am not looking for any political position after eight years as governor of Anambra State because I want to rest from the one I will finish on March 17.” “Don’t you notice how thin I’ve become as a result of my tireless efforts to improve our state?” Please let me get out of the one I’m already in, for which I thank God.” “I was fresh and better when I became governor, but now I’ve slimmed down.

I am happy, and I don’t need anyone to tell me I did well; I know I did well.

I built the airport, the stadium, the convention center, and other projects in the state without borrowing money from anyone or financial institution, and the airport we built is one of the best in the country.

We also built 18 bridges and completed 131 roads across the state, and all of this was made possible because I applied my fund management skills.
