Tricycle Rider Stabs Bayelsa Man to Death Over N50 Change

There was palpable tension in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital after a tricycle eider stabbed a passenger to death.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the victim, an Epie indigene was stabbed to death by the rider on Wednesday in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa Local Government area in the state.

An eyewitness told our correspondent that the incident followed an argument between the two parties over a N50.00 change.

The incident led to a protest in the area as angry youths inflicted revenge on the rider by killing him on the spot and setting other tricycles ablaze.

The death of the yet to be identified youth also saw the youths torch a mosque in the area.

Police condemn act, call for calm

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa State Police Command has condemned the action of both the rider and the irate youths after it deployed an anti-riot squad to the scene of the incident in a bid to restore normalcy.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Butswat said normalcy has since been restored following the incident.
