‘We Can’t Resume, We Don’t Want To Die’ – NUT Tells FG

Following the Federal Government’s directive on schools reopening for students in graduating classes, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has said that it will not resume as it cannot risk the lives of its members.

While disclosing this, General-Secretary of the NUT, Mike Ene, accused the government of playing politics with the directive.

Ene said that the government was probably not serious with its directive as teachers would not resume because none of its members is willing to risk his/her life.

“I don’t know who is going to use his own child as a guinea pig. It is only those who are alive that can speak of keeping hope alive. How can we resume? Does anybody want to die?,” He said.

According to Ene, if Government really want teachers to resume, it should provide all necessary materials and incentives beforehand.
