A frontline non-governmental organization, Eddy Pondi Foundation has reiterated its commitment to providing support to the less privileged in society.

Chairman of the foundation, Pondi Eddy stated this following the conclusion of a three days health medical outreach in Yokri and Sokeblou communities, in Burutu local government area, Delta State.

The exercise which spanned through December 9 – 11, 2021, was conducted in collaboration with Medical Aide Trust International and Glovision Specialist Centre and Surgery.

The outreach featured home medical care for the elderly, screening and counseling, consultations.

Also, dispensing of drugs and free medical glasses, and eyes surgery (foreign body removal) formed part of the exercise.

According to Engr Pondi, “the aim of the project was to bring medical care to those who could not afford it within the communities.”

He noted that the PEF was familiar with the challenges of communal communities, and will consistently contribute its bit to making life easier for the people.

Four successful surgeries were conducted in the exercise that attracted over 282 beneficiaries, including children.

The communities were also sensitized on several disease conditions, prevention and management including malaria, typhoid fever, common cold, diabetes, hypertension and heart related cases, common eye infections and management, general eye care.

The people were encouraged to make certain lifestyle adjustment to promote better health.

About 283 patients were screened for vital signs and patients’ bio-data were properly documented.

Patients were screened and diagnosed with several sicknesses and health conditions with matching treatment plan given.
