World Cup Qualifiers: Nigeria Loses Iwobi, Etebo, Ndidi to Injury Against CAR

As Nigeria takes Central African Republic on October 7 in the qualifying match, Gernot Rohr, Nigeria manager will not count on the services of three players in Nigeria’s starting line-up.

The players include Alex Iwobi of Everton, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Oghenekaro Etebo of Watford.

Everton Manager, Rafa Benitez confirmed that of Iwobi when the coach said the ex-Arsenal star who currently battles with injury won’t feature as their club goes toe-to-toe with Manchester United today, Saturday.

Iwobi was one of the standout players as the Super Eagles began World Cup qualifying, setting up the two goals scored by Kelechi Iheanacho against Liberia, and was named Most Valuable Player.

Iwobi, who plays as midfielder becomes the third Premier League player to be withdrawn from Nigeria squad ahead of the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying match.

Other Nigerian Internationals playing in the English Premier League who have also been dropped from Nigeria’s line-up include Ndidi and Etebo.

That is to say, the trio won’t be traveling to Africa to link up with their international teammates at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Thursday as Nigeria faces Central African Republic.

The unavailability of the trio should not therefore discombobulate Rohr as he already has solution at his fingertips.

He should position Terem Moffi, Lorient striker (who has been called up by the Nigeria football Federation) to take the place of Iwobi.

On the other hand, The coach should discreetly pick from players who are currently doing well at their respective clubs in Europe to replace Ndidi and Etebo.

That is in line with the disclosure of former international, Mutiu Adepoju, while in a chat with brila.net.
