The Super Eagles got some great news ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin: William Troost-Ekong is back in training.
Troost-Ekong had been out since he underwent surgery after an injury he picked up during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Despite his injury, the center-back made a significant impact at the tournament in Côte d’Ivoire, scoring three goals and earning the title of Player of the Tournament.
Initially, it was thought he would be sidelined for the rest of the 2022/23 season, but he has made a speedy recovery.
The 30-year-old is now set to play in PAOK Salonica’s final three league matches of the season.
His return is a major boost for the Super Eagles, who are still seeking their first win in the World Cup qualifiers.
