Army Seizes over 3 Million litres of Stolen Crude Oil in Rivers

The Nigerian Army has seized over three million litres of stolen crude oil from an illegal refinery in Rivers State.

The seizure was done by men under the leadership of Maj Gen Jamal Abdusallam on Thursday.

The operation took place in Akwa-Odiogwa, located in the Etche Local Government Area of the state.

During the raid, the Army uncovered a range of equipment used for illegal refining.

It apprehended several individuals involved in the transportation of illegally refined products.

Abdusallam sent a message to those engaged in illegal refinery operations to cease their activities and repent.

The General advised them to pursue legitimate business endeavors.

He stated that the Nigerian Army stands resolute in its commitment to eradicating such illicit operations and promoting lawful economic activities.

He said:

This place is thickly forested and even from the air, using helicopters and drones, you won’t be able to see what we saw on the ground.

“Credible intelligence led us to this location. We have discovered so many illegalities that took us here. We have seen reservoirs that contain upwards of 200 litres.

“We will not relent, we will continue to go after them.
