Arsenal Eyes Nigerian Strikers

Arsenal is on the lookout for fresh attacking talent as they gear up for the summer transfer window, with two Nigerian strikers catching their eye.

According to reports from the Daily Mirror, Edu Gasper, the Gunners’ director of football, has already compiled a shortlist of ten potential targets, which includes the Nigerian duo of Victor Osimhen from Napoli and Victor Boniface from Bayer Leverkusen.

Other players on Arsenal’s radar include Ivan Toney, Alexander Isak, and Viktor Gyokeres, all of whom have been prolific scorers for Sporting CP.

Despite already leading the Premier League in goals scored this season, with 70 goals to their name, Arsenal is looking to strengthen their attacking options for the future.

Manager Mikel Arteta has experimented with using Kai Havertz as a false nine due to injuries, but plans to revert to a traditional number nine system next season.

Osimhen, ranked eighth in the world according to the 2023 Ballon d’Or list, played a crucial role in Napoli’s Serie A title win last season, despite a slight dip in form this year.

Boniface, on the other hand, has been sidelined with a groin injury since December but has returned to action just in time to help Bayer Leverkusen in their push for the Bundesliga title.

Edu’s shortlist comprises a mix of experienced and up-and-coming talents from across Europe, indicating Arsenal’s ambition to bolster their attacking options for the seasons ahead.
