BREAKING: Strike Can End Tomorrow – ASUU

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has revealed that the ongoing industrial action can end tomorrow.

According to the Union, the industrial action will end immediately once the federal government addresses their concerns.

This was disclosed by the ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday night.

Osodeke also revealed that the Union has reached an agreement with the federal government, but no signatures have been signed.

Osodeke said the insistence by ASUU
on using its own payment platform, the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS), was a key demand the government must accept.

“As far as ASUU is concerned, the strike can end tomorrow,” Osedeke said.

“We have finished the negotiation. If the government calls us now to come and sign the agreement, we will be there tomorrow.

“Let the government tell us they have finished testing the UTAS and we have accepted it, then we will call off the strike.

“When will they sign the agreement? When will they accept UTAS? Those are the two questions we should ask the Nigerian government,” Osodeke added.

DAILY REPORT recalls that the ongoing strike is in its fifth month, after the lecturers shutdown schools in early 2022.
