Super Falcons striker, Desire Oparanozie, has humbly appealed for forgiveness from Nigerians for her missed penalty spot kick during the 2023 Women’s World Cup match against England.

During the crucial game, Oparanozie’s spot kick wasn’t successful, coming after the Three Lions had previously missed their initial penalty kick.

This missed opportunity could have greatly boosted the morale of the Super Falcons players.

Unfortunately, Nigeria’s journey in the tournament came to an end as they were eliminated following a 4-2 penalty shootout loss to the Three Lionesses in the round of 16 match on Monday.

Taking to her Twitter account, Oparanozie expressed her disappointment at not being able to convert her penalty kick and shared her regret.

In her tweet, she wrote, “Sad day! Very disappointing to have lost through penalties, and even more disappointing not to have converted mine. And for this, I deeply apologise.
