FCT Police Rescue 14 Kidnapped Victims

Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have rescued about fourteen hostages from custody.

The rescue was done by operatives of the Command attached to the anti-kidnapping unit and the Rubochi Division Police Headquarters on Thursday.

Men of the Command engaged in a gun duel with the kidnappers at a forest in a border community between Abuja and Nasarawa State.

FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh confirmed the rescue of the fourteen kidnappees.

Adeh disclosed that one of the Kidnappers was gunned down while others escaped.

He said:

The combined team, acting on credible intelligence, stormed the kidnapper’s den located at Ukya village via Nasarawa state bordering FCT.

“On sighting the police operatives, the hoodlums opened fire on the police operatives, which resulted in a gun duel.

“The police operatives neutralised one of the kidnappers as the rest scampered to a nearby forest with various degrees of bullet wounds.

“The hostages who were rescued unhurt have since been reunited with their loved ones.”
