FIFA Bans Nigerian Coach Remi Amadi For Two Years

Coach of Cofine FC of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Remi Amadi has been banned for two years from all football-related activities by world football governing body, FIFA.The decision was passed on by the FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee to the Nigeria Football Federation, while the NFF made this known in a statement on Tuesday.

He was found guilty of trying to manipulate the result of a match seven months ago.Amadi admitted to having attempted to manipulate the result of the match between Cofine FC and Bussdor FC as recorded in an audio conversation which was tendered as evidenceBased on its numerous findings, the NFF’s Disciplinary Committee earlier slammed a two-year ban on the erring coach and an N500,000 fine on Cofine FC.

The statement read;

“The world body’s Disciplinary Committee conveyed this decision to the Nigeria Football Federation, and it is a consequence of a similar ban imposed on the gaffer by the NFF Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of 16th August 2021.

“The NFF Integrity Unit forwarded the said decision of the NFF Disciplinary Committee and all the relevant documentations to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee via a letter dated 25th August 2021, requesting the Committee to extend the sanction to have a worldwide effect, in accordance with Article 66, FIFA Disciplinary Code.

“The worldwide effect was activated by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee at its meeting of 5th October 2021.”Amadi can no longer work as a coach in any football club or national side under FIFA’ s jurisdiction again.
