In filing for divorce on the ground of infidelity, the actress also sought the court to grant her more than half of the player’s fortune.

However, it was discovered that the Morocco international had no asset in his name as all of his properties her registered in the name of his mother, Mrs. Fatima.

Hiba had been hoping to get a great percentage of the player’s estimated €70 million fortune. Hakimi currently earns around €1 million per month with PSG but 80% of that sum is paid to his mother’s account.

Varying reactions trailed the report with many calling to mind that several football stars have gone broke after going through unpleasant divorce process.

Eboue also said he had no contact with his daughters Clara, 14, and Maeva, 12 at the time.

“I can’t afford the money to continue to have any lawyer or barrister.

“I am in the house but I am scared. Because I don’t know what time the police will come.

“Sometimes I shut off the lights because I don’t want people to know that I am inside. I put everything behind the door.

“My own house. I suffered to buy my house but I am now scared.

“I am not going to sell my clothes or sell what I have. I will fight until the end because it is not fair.”

The player later debunked reports that he was broke saying he may have been misunderstood from the interview.

“When [people] say Emmanuel Eboue lost everything, it’s not nice.

“Because I had a divorce [case] and they [court] said my wife won, they gave her all my properties – my two houses, money and the cars that I had in England.

“I wasn’t worried about it because I expected that she was going to use it to take care of my children.

“When they [court] said that, I was very disappointed… To be honest, for the first time, I was very down but after that, I prayed and forgot about all of that,” the 37-year-old told Citi Sports.

“In Turkey, I earned eight million euros. I sent seven million back home. Whatever she tells me to sign, I sign.”

The former Arsenal player also rubbished claims that he’s broke in an interview with ModernGhana in 2021.

“I have properties in Ghana, I have properties in my own country Ivory (Coast). I live comfortably and I thank God.”

Eboue later married his childhood sweetheart Stephanie Boede when he returned to Ivory Coast.

David James

Former England goalkeeper David James reportedly lost £3 million following his divorce from ex-wife Tanya.

David was declared bankrupt in 2014 despite earning around £20 million from a football career that spanned 26 years.

The former England goalie played for top clubs including Liverpool, Watford, Aston Villa, Manchester City, and West Ham.

David went on to feature in the Strictly dance floor before settling for football pundit duties.

Asamoah Gyan

A former captain of the Black Stars of Ghana, Gyan played for Sunderland, Udinese and other clubs in Europe.

In 2018, the footballer and musician was declared broke in a report by The Mirror.

Gyan was reported to have had just £600 in his name after his wife filed for divorce.

“Asamoah Gyan declared he had only £600 in his bank account when his wife filed for divorce. Also had his properties in his brother’s name so she couldn’t get any,” The Mirror reported.

Other high-profiled divorce cases involving football players include Cheryl and Ashley Cole, Ryan and Stacy Giggs, Thierry Henry and Nicole Merry, who he paid £8 million as settlement.

Obviously, bar the decision by Hakimi to put up his fortune in his mother’s name, he may have been counted among footballers who went broke after divorce today.
