Ikpeba Names Player to Win 2023 African Footballer of The Year

Former AS Monaco striker, Victor Ikpeba has backed Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen to win this year’s African Footballer of the Year award ahead of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane.

According to Ikpeba, Osimhen’s rivals for the award this year, Salah and Mane are both struggling so far this season with Mane still nursing his injury and Salah still finding his scoring form, adding that the Napoli Striker is far above them right now.

“Osimhen doesn’t need to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be crowned the African Footballer of The Year for 2023.

“If Napoli wins the Serie A and they get to the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League, like the semifinals or the final, he can be the African Footballer of The Year.

“Osimhen’s rivals for the award, the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, are really struggling at the moment.”

Osimhen has been in top form for Napoli so far this season, scoring 18 goals in 19 Serie A matches.
