A man identified as Stephen Monday, was on Thursday remanded at the correctional centre for allegedly defiling his lover’s four-year-old daughter.
Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court remanded Monday after he took his plea.
The defendant is facing a charge of defilement of a child preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.

During the arraignment of the defendant, the Director of Public Prosecution, Dr Babajide Martins, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 14, 2021.
According to Martins, the incident took place at about 5am, at No 5, Ayeloja in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.
The DPP told the court that the defendant allegedly had carnal knowledge of the four-year-old girl, an offence which contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Following his plea of not guilty, Martins requested a trial date.
Consequently, Justice Soladoye, ordered that the defendant be remanded in prison custody pending the perfection of his bail.
The case was adjourned till November 9, 2023, for commencement of trial.
