Nigerian Man Arrested For N42m Fraud in India

A Nigerian national has been arrested for duping customers of N42m in India.

The man, Ozoeze Charles Okelue, a 42-year-old, was arrested by officials of Cyber Crimes, Rachakond Police, Hyderabad on November 3.

Charles was reported to have duped his victims in the pretext of supplying them herbal oil products through online portals.

It was gathered that Charles was arrested, following a complaint lodged at a police station by an aggrieved buyer who had paid 77 lakh (42.6) for the herbal oil.

According to the Police, Okelue came to India on a student visa, but joined another Nigerian Ifeanyi, who is now missing, to make easy money.

The duo, Okelue, and Ifeanyi were said to have obtained sim cards, bank accounts and also set up a fake company to reach customers via social media.

Police revealed that the complaint had received an email from a product manager of ‘Gridron UK’ seeking zydone liquid oil, they suggested purchasing the product in India from one Tiwari Herbal Traders, Mumbai. The accused later impersonated as owners of Tiwari group and completed the transaction.
