The club’s new proprietors, Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital reported anomalies to both UEFA and the Premier League following their acquisition in 2022.

While the Premier League has yet to bring charges against Chelsea, talkSPORT, citing The Times, has revealed that an investigation has been initiated.
Should the team be found guilty of violating financial regulations, there could be penalties such as fines or even point deductions in the league.
These charges pertain to the period of Abramovich’s leadership at Stamford Bridge, where he assumed control in 2003 and concluded his ownership in 2022.

The report further indicates that the Premier League will scrutinize payments made to undisclosed offshore entities.
The sums involved are reported to reach into the millions and were not disclosed in the club’s annual financial reports to the Football Association, Premier League, and UEFA.
There is also ongoing scrutiny of a payment made to a player’s family.
It’s important to note that although these charges are connected to the previous ownership, Chelsea remains accountable for any breaches of rules.

The investigation could entail inquiries involving Chelsea’s former chairman, Bruce Buck, and director Marina Granovskaia, both of whom have departed from the club since.
As a consequence, potential sanctions range from fines to point deductions.
Abramovich, the Russian billionaire, had previously faced sanctions from the UK government due to his associations with Vladimir Putin.
