Serie A: Simy Nwankwo Grabs First Goal Against Spezia

Super Eagles’ Simy Nwankwo appeared a world-beater as he yesterday recorded first Serie ‘A’ goal for Salernitana against Spezia.

The Italy Serie ‘A’ fixture which took place at the Stadio Alberto Picco on Saturday would have marked the second win for Salernitana had they defended the solo goal.

The visitors could not resist Aquilotti’s pressure thereafter, succumbing to a second half double goals.

Notwithstanding, last season Crotone leading scorer with 20 goals sealed his first goal for the new club on matchday 8 of Italy Serie A.

The 29-year-old who joined the team in the summer on a long-loan from Crotone had pulled his side to a 1-0 lead in the 39th minute.

However, the hosts roared back with David Strelec converting Viktor Kovalenko’s cross in the 51st minute before Viktor Kovalenko beat the keeper from outside to double his side’s lead in the 76th minute.

Fabrizio Castori’s side have grabbed 4 points only in 8 competitions so far with 1 win and 1 draw.

As it stands, Salernitana sits second to the last in the Serie ‘A’ table with one point ahead of Cagliari who occupies the last spot.
