AFCON 2025: CAF Team Visits Benin Republic for Inspection

Ahead of the 2025 African Cup of Nation (AFCON), the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has visited the facilities in Benin Republic for inspection.

Recal that Nigeria and Benin Republic have put forward a joint bid to co-host the biennial competition.

The CAF team visited the Charles De Gaulle Stadium in Porto-Novo and also General Mathieu Kerekou Stadium, in Cotonou.

The team also visited six stadiums in Nigeria over the weekend.

They showed satisfaction with the facilities and equipment at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, saying the arena is suitable and also in good form for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Algeria, Morocco, and Zambia have also indicated interest to host the competition.

Guinea was initially scheduled to host the competition but was stripped of the right after failing to put up facilities in place.

Later this year, CAF is expected to name a new host for AFCON 2025.
