Bayelsa: PDP Condemns Alleged Killing of Member By APC Thugs

The Bayelsa state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of using thugs to attack political opposition in the state.

The leadership of PDP condemned as “dastardly” and “senseless” the two days attack by suspected APC thugs on members of the party in Ogbolomabiri community in Nembe Kingdom of the state.

DAILY REPORT NG gathered that two chieftains of the PDP, identified as Timi Biriyai Macdonald and Diepreye Akrisia, were on Thursday night brutally attacked by suspected APC thugs.

Macdonald was later confirmed dead on Thursday night.

The PDP, in a statement issued on Friday and signed by the State Chairman, Hon. Solomon Aguanana, the Secretary, Hon. Gesiye Isowo and the Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ebiye Ogoli, said the party while sympathizing with the families of the deceased and the injured, “condemn the situation whereby a political party resorts to violence, maiming and killing or scaring away supporters of other parties from the community”.

PDP also claimed that APC is planning to hijack, collate and return fictitious and non-existent result in its favour from the said community during elections.

The party added, “The PDP, to this end strongly urge the Police and other security agencies in the state to, without delay, investigate, arrest and prosecute the perpetrators of this wicked and senseless attacks on innocent citizens, to serve as deterrent to others during the November 11 elections,”
