The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has acknowledged Olorogun David Edevbie as governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State.
This is even as the Commission writes the PDP to affirm the former finance commissioner as the party’s flag bearer for the 2023 governorship election.
In a letter dated 18th July, 2022 and signed by its Secretary, Rose Orainran Anthony, INEC acknowledged receipt of the judgment by the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The judgment delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo declared Edevbie as the party’s candidate for the poll, while disqualifying Sheriff Oborevwori over discrepancies with his certificates.
The judgment had ordered both INEC and the PDP to replace the House of Assembly Speaker with Edevbie as part of its ruling.
INEC, in the letter addressed to the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, acknowledged the judgement with suit NO. FHC/(AB)/CS/795/2022, adding that the judgment has been served on the commission.
“While hoping your party takes note of the judgement order, please accept the assurance of the commission warm regards,” the letter added.
