Jigawa Primary Elections: Police Warn Against Political Thuggery, Use of Weapons

As political parties conduct their primary elections, Nigeria Police force, Jigawa State command, has banned political thuggery and use of any weapon in the state.

The warning was issued via a statement signed by the state’s police Spokesman, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

The statement reads, “Sequel to the forthcoming primary elections in the state, the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa state Police Command CP. Aliyu Sale Tafida psc, wishes to remind political parties and their followers in the state, that the ban on political thuggery, use of weapons such as; cutlasses, sticks, bow and arrows, guns, machetes, jack knives and other dangerous weapons, during political primaries is still enforced.”

The command advised politicians to advise their followers to refrain from such and strictly adhere and abide by the rules and regulation governing the electoral processes.

It further explained that the security agency will not hesitate to apprehend anybody who  foments trouble and violate the provision of the law as contained in the electoral act and regulations.

“We will work assiduously with sister agencies to fish out those troublemakers and their sponsors as well, conduct thorough investigation and charge the culprits to court, to face the full wrath of the law.”
