Ndoni Berates Ogiren Over Call to Remove Oporomo Monarch From Palliative Committee

Timipre Ndoni, the Media Director to the traditional ruler of Oporomo Kingdom, HRM Dr. Ekioemi Oweiagbe, Gbesa 1, has berated Mr. Newstyle Ogiren over his call on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to remove the monarch from the subsidy palliatives distribution list.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that Ogiren had cited a court order which he claimed restrained the monarch from performing his duties pending another judgment at the Ughelli High Court.

Ogiren, who contested the traditional stool also accused Oborevwori of abusing court process by nominating the monarch for such a public duty.

Reacting to the statement on Saturday, Ndoni described Ogiren’s call as ‘mischievous’ and an ‘assassination of character’ against the monarch.

Ndoni noted that the court only temporarily restrained the Delta State Government from paying royalties to the monarch pending a follow-up judgment.

He further called on Governor Oborevwori and the general public to treat Ogiren’s outcry with kids gloves as it does not hold water.

The statement read;

“We are constrained to respond to a frivolous petition forwarded to His Excellency, Gov. Oborewori by Mr. Egiren Newstyle who also contested the Operemor Kingship Stool but lost to the successor, HRM King(Dr) Ekioemi Oweiagbe John, Gbesa 1, Ebenanaowei of Operemor Kingdom, alleged as sighted in an online publication that, the revered monarch be removed from the State Government appointed Subsidy Palliative Distribution Committee as a result of a subsisting order of court that restrained the State Government from dealing with him.

“To us, that is unfounded and a figment of the highest order trying to execute what does not emanated from the Court of law to deceive the appropriate authorities and the general public to gain cheap popularity as well as infringe on the personal right of the Royal Father by way of assassinating his integrity and sound public records.

“The said restrained order of Court only granted the stoppage of financial benefits of royalties and allowances due to the monarch from the Delta State Government, and none-else pending determination of the suit in question. Though, objectively countered to be struck out as it is window shopping.

“This particular order has nothing to do with the traditional functions of the monarch which remain recognized.

“Therefore, the Delta State Government should jettison this character assassination and daylight pervasion of justice venture by the so called petitioner who is only venting over his failure to ascend the Royal Throne of Operemor Kingdom.”
